Landscaping companies help keep our communities looking great. But gas mowers and blowers come with a cost: heavy air and noise pollution.
- Running a commercial lawn mower for one hour creates about as much pollution as driving a car from Los Angeles to Las Vegas.
- Running a commercial leaf blower for one hour creates about as much pollution as driving that same car from Los Angeles to Denver.
Many residents and HOAs prefer landscapers who use quiet electric equipment instead of loud gas-powered models. So PACE teamed up with the City of Boulder and the American Green Zone Alliance (AGZA) to help local businesses switch to electric equipment.
The Electric Landscaping Equipment Grant helps small, locally owned landscaping companies switch from loud, gas-powered tools to reliable electric alternatives. PACE offers funding and expert guidance to cover upfront costs and remove other barriers to switching, so your business can enjoy:

The PACE Landscaping Equipment Grant lottery is now closed.
Detalles del subsidio
In 2026, the grant covers 50% of the cost of electric landscape equipment (before tax). Due to high demand, PACE now limits the maximum grant to $5,000. The participant pays the remaining 50% of the equipment cost, plus 100% of the sales tax on the transaction.
Some retailers offer an extra 30% discount on qualifying equipment. This comes from the State of Colorado’s Electric-Powered Lawn Equipment program. Retailers use this discount first, then use the PACE grant.
This year, we’re awarding grants through a simple lottery process. The application is currently closed.
- We accepted applications through April 14
- After the application period ended, we awarded grants to qualifying applicants through a random lottery and distributed funds
- Starting April 27, we notified businesses of their status and next steps
This grant is available to Boulder County professional landscaping business owners who meet all of the following requirements:

AGZA tests its certified equipment to make sure the tools hold up to commercial use and have good aftermarket support. Equipment includes blowers, trimmers, chainsaws, and mowers. Manufacturers include Stihl, Husqvarna, Makita, Kress, MeanGreen, Greenworks, Towa, and more. Our retail partners will work with you to make sure the equipment you select qualifies.
You’ll also need accessories like batteries, backpack batteries, cables, and carrying systems to get the most out of your equipment. Work with your retailer to make sure you have everything you need to meet your daily workload.

The American Green Zone Alliance (AGZA) is an organization committed to improving quality of life for communities, working conditions for operators, and best practices for the landscape maintenance industry. PACE has partnered with the City of Boulder and AGZA to develop our landscaping equipment grant program, with AGZA providing technical advice. This program helps small, local landscape companies begin the switch from loud, polluting equipment to trusted electric alternatives.
AGZA has thoroughly tested AFTC (AGZA Field Tested Certified) equipment to make sure it can perform at the high level required of commercial landscaping equipment, year after year. AGZA also wants to make sure certified manufacturers offer good aftermarket support, and that resources exist for recycling batteries.
Electric equipment offers a lot of choices, and more become available each year. It can be tough to know which manufacturers are dependable and capable of performing full-time commercial-grade grounds maintenance at levels that can replace gas tools. AGZA fully endorses the brands in its directory, so you can feel more confident in your investment.
After PACE approves your grant, you’ll select a voucher to use at one of our local retail partners who specialize in professional lawn care equipment.

You must choose only one authorized retailer where you can find your favorite brand and the type of equipment you want to purchase. We recommend researching retailers ahead of time, then deciding where you want to purchase your equipment. You can select your preferred store during the application, or ask your advisor for help.

You can use your voucher to purchase equipment from different manufacturers as long as they are available from your chosen retailer and are on the AGZA field-tested certified list. You cannot use a PACE voucher to purchase equipment from manufacturers that are not AGZA field-tested certified.
Once PACE confirms your grant approval, you’ll receive an email with an electronic document that serves as your voucher. Vouchers must include your electronic signature and the signature of the PACE program manager to be valid. You can sign the document electronically right when you open it – just fill in the highlighted boxes.
Your PACE advisor can guide you if you don’t know how to sign the document electronically, or can offer another option. You’ll receive a copy by email with both required signatures. This is your valid voucher, which you can use to purchase equipment at the retail store you selected.

Cuando Dwayne Kramer adquirió Greenspaces Landscaping en 2023, dio prioridad a cambiar los viejos equipos de gas por versiones eléctricas.
