Partners for a Clean Environment (PACE) has worked with more than 1,000 businesses across Boulder County to access rebates, incentives, and financing that help them realize their sustainability goals and make smart investments in their business operations. Rebate amounts and availability vary and pre-approval may be required.

Rebates & Incentives for Energy

Partners for A clean Environment (PACE) has distributed $3.2 million in rebates for more than 1,370 energy efficiency projects for businesses and commercial building owners. These rebates were used for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. Rebates are available from many sources, including utilities and local governments. PACE supports your business in achieving your energy goals, connects you with financing tools and incentives, provides personalized guidance, and helps you gain recognition for your efforts.

Businesses are required to contact an advisor prior to the installation of energy efficiency measures to confirm funding, ensure that your project meets the eligibility requirements and to schedule an energy assessment/walk through of the project to verify existing equipment.

Custom Rebates:

Businesses located in the city of Boulder can earn incentives for efficiency upgrades that are not a part of the existing prescriptive rebate program. Custom Efficiency rebates promote the implementation of electric and natural gas saving measures by reducing project costs. These custom efficiency rebates will be reviewed on a case by case basis and require pre-approval.  
 
Some eligible measures include:
Chiller upgrades, refrigeration compressor and condenser replacement, Variable frequency drive installations on fans, pumps, or other variable loads, Compressed air equipment and system upgrades, Advanced lighting equipment and controls, Heat recovery and reuse and Building automation systems

Financing:
C-PACE Energy Loans
Colorado Property Assessed Clean Energy Loans (C-PACE) enables owners of Eligible Commercial & Industrial Buildings to finance up to 100% of Energy Efficiency, Renewable Energy, and Water Conservation Eligible Improvements.

Rebates & Incentives for Waste

Thanks to the City of Boulder Trash Tax Funding, businesses and property owners in the City of Boulder are currently eligible for financial incentives as follows:

  • Business Zero Waste Start-Up Rebate: If you need to expand or purchase collection bins to comply with the Boulder Universal Waste ordinance: The City of Boulder will rebate 50 percent of the costs (total rebate up to $500) toward the purchase of interior bins and signage. If you are a food-related business, the rebate can also cover the purchase of compostable bin liners. Submit an expanding service bin rebate application to zerowaste@bouldercolorado.gov.
  • Property Manager Rolling Grant Program: This new rolling grant program will fund up to 50 percent of the cost of outdoor enclosure expansions needed to accommodate proper containers for landfill, recycling, and compost collection. Please note: All incentives are provided through the city's Trash Tax and are subject to funding availability.

Businesses in all other communities in Boulder County:

  • To enhance recycling and compost collection, receive up to $300 towards the purchase of interior bins.

Rebates & Incentives for Water

While supplies last, PACE will install faucet aerators and pre-rinse spray valves and to high-efficiency models, completely free. We want to help businesses, restaurants and commercial kitchens save water, energy, and MONEY!

PACE offers water assessments to businesses and commercial property owners to help prioritize water-saving improvements and save money. This service is offered at no cost to businesses throughout Boulder County.

In partnership with PACE, the City of Boulder offers water conservation incentives to key commercial businesses such as restaurants and businesses with landscaping.

Rebates & Incentives for Transportation

PACE links businesses throughout Boulder County with a variety of incentives for transportation options, such as EcoPasses, vanpools and carpools, and bike and car share programs. 

Incentives vary by municipality:

  • BikeShare – Boulder B-cycle offers discounted corporate memberships.
  • Bike racks and permit assistance - Boulder County provides up to five free "inverted U" bike racks, site layout advising, permit assistance, and the business covers installation.
  • Carpool and Vanpool – Employees can split commute costs by vanpooling and carpooling. Various incentives are available through MyWayToGoVanGoGo Boulder and US 36 Commuting Solutions.
  • CarShare – Discounted carshare rates for businesses and nonprofits with eGo CarShare.
  • EcoPass – The EcoPass is valid for unlimited rides on all regular RTD bus and light rail service. Discounted prices and reimbursements are available for businesses based on the number of employees.
    • Discounts for EcoPass Holders – 10% discount on eGo Carshare memberships, 10% discount on memberships to Community Cycles, and much more.
    • Downtown Boulder Free EcoPass – Businesses located within downtown Boulder are included in the City of Boulder Parking Services FREE downtown employee EcoPass program.
  • Electric Vehicle Charging Station Grants – Charge Ahead Colorado offers grants to cover up to 80% of the purchase and installation of an electric vehicle charging station.
  • Tax Benefits – Transit passes and vanpooling are eligible for commuter tax benefits.
